Research Centre on Multilingualism
Foreign language teaching as reserach objective
The Research Centre on Multilingualism (RCM) commenced its activities in the year 2011 after the Federal Council issued the corresponding mandate to the Institute of Multilingualism of the University of Fribourg and the University of Teacher Education Fribourg in June of 2010. Over the course of the next few years, our primary objectives will be to launch research projects and to develop our services.
We have set ourselves an ambitious goal: we, specifically our research projects, aim to contribute scholarly and empirically supported findings on social questions currently surrounding multilingualism. For us, this also involves active – and critical – participation in the public debates on multilingualism.
Alongside our research activities, we place great value on developing a palette of scientifically based services not only for researchers, but also for a broader audience, to whom the RCM will offer an overview of current research findings. Not less important is networking and increasing the visibility of Swiss research on multilingualism, our main cause.
We look forward to the many challenges of the coming years and are pleased to have a capable and motivated team to rely on. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and look forward to a fruitful dialogue.
