The Institute of Diversity Education is an educational institute within the research and development department at the University of Teacher Education Lucerne (PH Luzern). It thematically focuses on teaching and learning from the perspective of performance-related, linguistic and cultural, social and disability-related heterogeneity. Further issues are the questions on integration and inclusion in schools and teaching. Research projects inquire into the aspects of what the structural conditions, teaching concepts and pedagogical action competences of teachers are that contribute to a productive way of dealing with heterogeneous learning groups. The institute also supports school teams and education authorities in their development of teaching, remedial classes and school structures. The projects are financed by instruments of research funding commissioned by the federal government, the cantons and the municipalities as well as the institute’s own financial resources.
